Jalpaiguri Municipality

About Us

Jalpaiguri, nestled on the picturesque banks of the Teesta and Karala Rivers, is a vibrant city in West Bengal, India. It serves as the headquarters of the Jalpaiguri district and the entire Jalpaiguri division, overseeing the administration of five North Bengal districts.

This city is not just a place of natural beauty but also of significant judicial importance, housing a circuit bench of the Kolkata High Court. It’s a hub for education with institutions like the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College and the second campus of the University of North Bengal. For sports enthusiasts, the Biswa Bangla Krirangan, also known as the Jalpaiguri Sports Village, is a key attraction.

Located 35 kilometers east of its twin city, Siliguri, the merging of these two cities forms the largest metropolitan area in the region, making Jalpaiguri a crucial part of North Bengal’s urban landscape.
